The Federation of Malaya is a happy, quiet country, jutting into the Indian ocean, with an area roughly equivalent to that of Florida and twice Florida’s population. Malaya is a country of “kampongs” or villages, where there are more religious holidays than days is a year, and where everyone - yes, everyone - is a musician. Many Malays live in the teeming port of Singapore, a center of Malay culture, even though it is not part of the Federation. The city’s booming recording and movie industries have nurtured many fine artists, but outside Asia, they are still little known. This album presents two of  Singapore’s most famous and active show business personalities in the hope of bridging the gap between the West and this musical and friendly country. P. Ramlee is undoubtedly the best-known talent in Malay films. Actor, singer, composer, director - his list of awards in Malayan and international film competitions is enviable. Several of his prize-winning songs are included in this album. Saloma (Salmah Ismail) is the most popular of Singapore's night club singers. Born in Singapore, and educated in Malay and English schools, her first break as a singer came when she was asked to substitute at the last minute on a radio broadcast. Her growing fame led to film and stage appearances, and she is now concentrating on club work in Singapore.

17 all time favourite legendary P. Ramlee and Saloma tracks. Originally released under EMI Capitol Records (US) and EMI Columbia (India) in 1965. Reissued by Sepia Records. Officially distributed by Caruso Vinyl (Malaysia) and Wildflower Records (Malaysia). Mastered by CEDAR AUDIO ENGLAND on 24 Bit Mastering. Made in England.

“CEDAR - The World’s Leading Audio Restoration” as stated on the credit.
